The Fire Suppression System is designed to be mounted inside or outside a vehicle and can also be used in aircraft, ships and submarines. The unit can be mounted with the integral adjustable straps. In the event of a fire, the handle is pulled and the blanket releases. Once released, the blanket falls open and free of the container for self aid or for use on other personnel or equipment.

The Fire Suppression System blanket is rated for a constant operating temperature of 1093°C (2000°F) and has a melt point of 1649°C (3000°F). The blanket can be used multiple times to extinguish personnel, vehicles and equipment with one device.

Problems and Solutions

P - The overpressure created during an IED blasts can cause conventional fire extinguishers to rupture, not to mention the fire extinguishers limited effective duration. The size and intensity of the fires created can often be more than a normal fire extinguisher can handle. Conventional fire extinguishers are also not ideal to extinguish burning casualties due to wound contamination and airway compromise.
